Located just 30 miles from Cody, Wyoming, the South Fork Mountain Retreat is a collection of four log cabins built in the early 1980s. The property was started as a guest ranch, then later was used as a private home for several years. When Kenny and Marie Daniels purchased the property in 2017, time and circumstances had taken their toll and a complete renovation was needed.
Special care was taken during the yearlong project to preserve the integrity of this special property. Built of hand hewn logs, the cabin exteriors were sandblasted and refinished. Decks were repaired and painted. Windows and roofs were replaced. But the old corral behind the barn was left untouched and the rocky sagebrush covered pastures were not “improved”. Walk through them and you may be rewarded with an old cast off horseshoe, a shed antler, or a piece of petrified wood.
The interior spaces received the same special consideration. The old was replaced only when necessary and preserved whenever possible. Luxurious but sturdy furnishings, paintings and photography by local artists, tables and cabinetry by local craftsmen, and a serene color scheme combine to create a modern counterpoint to the rustic surroundings.
After all this attention to detail, we feel we've made South Fork Mountain Retreat the perfect place to unplug and unwind. Your stay will be enhanced by high thread count sheets, plush Pine Cone Hill robes, and luxury bath amenities. Each cabin has wireless internet and satellite TV with smart phone service through WiFi connection. There is a land line in the Owl House. Three of our cabins have a fireplace and all have board games, outdoor seating, and access to hiking.
